Assassin Abilities

Passive Ability

The Assassin’s passive ability provides a neat 10% buff to your groundspeed movement.
This is particularly useful when you’re traversing the environment or taking on opponents in an intense battle. The fact that you’ll move that little bit faster than every other class in the game makes you trickier to hit and it’ll give you an automatic advantage in almost all situations!
Assassin Ability #1: Blink

Blink is easily one of the strongest abilities in the Assassin’s toolkit and allows you to teleport forwards a short distance. Not only is this ability great for fleeing hairy situations or repositioning to gain the advantage over your enemies, it’s also fantastic for outmaneuvering your enemies at close-range.

One of the best uses of Blink is when you’re facing someone in a duel. You can teleport behind or around them in a flash, before gunning them down as they turn to locate your position.
Don’t forget that you can Blink through windows as well!

Upgrades
Cooldown - 16 / 12 / 8 / 4 seconds

Assassin Ability #2: Concussion Bomb
The Concussion Bomb knocks backs back enemies as well as yourself when it explodes. Throw it down at your feet to blast off in a certain direction and then reposition, or do the exact same to the enemy to throw a little more confusion into the mix.
We love throwing it behind ourselves to chase down enemies without having to hop on our Mount, or throwing it under ourselves to breach buildings.

Upgrades
Cooldown - 14 / 12 / 10 / 8 seconds
Damage - 150 / 300 / 450 / 600 damage

Assassin Ability #3: Ghost Walk
Ghost Walk makes you untargetable for a couple of seconds and allows you to move 20% faster. It’s a great way to negate damage by using it just as an enemy’s about to use an ability or fire a shot at you.
You can also use Ghost Walk while reloading, and it’s a great way to bag yourself some free time as you wait for cooldowns to reset - handy if you need to escape or catch your enemy by surprise.

Upgrades
Cooldown - 12 / 10 / 8 / 6 seconds
Movement Speed - 15 / 30 / 45 / 60%

Assassin Ability #4: Sensor Drone
Drop the Sensor Drone down and it’ll reveal enemies for a lengthy 5 seconds at max level. You can lob it pretty far, which makes it fantastic when you’re facing enemies hiding away in buildings. It allows you to see exactly what they’re up to and sets you up nicely for a quick reposition without them knowing.

Upgrades
Cooldown - 20 / 16 / 12 / 8 seconds
Duration - 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 seconds

Assassin Ability #5: Smoke Screen

Smoke Screen is the Assassin’s core disruptive ability. It does exactly what it says on the tin and creates a wall of smoke that blocks enemy vision.
Drop this down when you’re approaching an enemy or in the midst of a fight and you’ll totally disappear. It’s the perfect way to set up a sudden backstab or take a breather and reposition. Of course, combining it with the likes of Blink or Ghost Walk can buy you even more time!

Upgrades
Cooldown - 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 seconds
Duration - 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 seconds

Assassin Legendary Weapon - Sniper Rifle

The Assassin’s Legendary Weapon is an ultra-powerful Sniper Rifle that’s fantastic at taking out enemies from a distance. It’s got a touch of bullet drop, but land a critical shot and you can potentially destroy an opponent in one hit.

Ideally you’ll want to be using this weapon at range, but it’s possible to fire from the hip at close quarters before following up with another weapon.

Just remember that you’ll want to lead your opponents ever so slightly when they’re running in the distance, although the bullet drop isn’t as severe as it is in other Battle Royale games. Aim for the head and take your time between shots!

Assassin Tips

Here’s a handful of tips that’ll help you get to grips with the Assassin. We’ll be expanding on this section in due course as we gain some more hands-on time with the class ourselves.
  • Remember that you can Blink through the environment! Use it to sneak up on opponents through walls, or even Blink upwards through a window for the ultimate surprise attack.

  • Utilise abilities like Blink, Ghost Walk and Concussion Bomb to keep yourself safe while reloading or in the midst of a major engagement. You want to make yourself as slippery as possible, so don’t be afraid to make use of these skills often.

  • When you’re getting closed down by the likes of a Warrior or Mage, it’s essential that you’re taking advantage of tricksy abilities like Blink or Smoke Screen to evade any incoming damage. Force aggressive enemies to be uncomfortable when fighting you, so don’t face them in a traditional head-on duel. Make them twist and turn as it’ll buy you more time to lay down consistent damage or seek out a finishing blow.

  • If you’re against a Hunter, be aware that they’ve got a similar skillset to yours. They’ll either try and get some distance between you to rattle off shots, or Dodge around your shots. We’d recommend closing the gap, as this is where your disruptive abilities will come into play.
